To the end of the road
Go South is the Motonest adventure that crosses some of the most spectacular regions of Patagonia. We start from Santiago de Chile / Valparaíso and head south along the legendary Carretera Austral, down the Chilean side of Patagonia and towards the Pacific. We reach Ushuaia — the End of the World — and then the route continues north through Argentine Patagonia, crossing and visiting national parks and some of the most spectacular landscapes in South America. The end of the journey brings us back to Santiago de Chile. A round trip: south on the Chilean side, north on the Argentine side. The next edition, Go South — Patagonia & Ushuaia, leaves in February 2028, at the end of the southern summer: the most stable weather window in Patagonia, with a wind a little less aggressive than early in the season. For whoever comes from All Andes Wings (December 2027, Cartagena → Santiago), the two tours join naturally — one comes down the Andes to Santiago, the other leaves from there further south.

Why this route matters
- AThe whole Carretera Austral
1,240 kilometres of road built through cold forest, fjords and glaciers, finished only in recent decades. It leads nowhere "on the way to" — it is a destination in itself.
- BBoth Patagonias, in one circuit
The Chilean side is green, wet, cut by water. The Argentine side is open steppe, endless horizon and Ruta 40. The same region, two completely different worlds.
- CUshuaia — and back
The southernmost city in the world is not the end of the route but its middle. What comes after the photo at the End of the World is the part least talked about and best remembered.
Chile — the north and the Carretera Austral

Puerto Varas and the perfect cone of the Osorno volcano mirrored in Lago Llanquihue. German architecture, fine rain, permanent green.

The wooden churches the Jesuits built without a single nail, the stilt houses and the island's own mythology.
- 04Queulat National Park
Ventisquero Colgante — the hanging glacier between two rock walls, its water falling straight into the void for hundreds of metres.
- 05Cerro Castillo
The jagged crest that names the park, and one of the finest stretches of asphalt on the whole of Ruta 7.
- 06Capillas de Mármol
The marble caves of Lago General Carrera, polished by waves over millennia. You go in by boat, under blue vaults.
- 07Caleta Tortel
A village with no streets: everything happens on cypress boardwalks, between fjord and forest. The southern end of the Carretera.
Argentina — towards the End of the World

Argentina's trekking capital, at the foot of the most photographed peak in the southern hemisphere. The weather changes four times a day.

An ice front five kilometres wide and sixty metres high, breaking in front of you with the sound of cannon. One of the few glaciers still advancing.
- 10Torres del Paine
The three granite towers, the horn of Paine Grande and the turquoise lakes — the park that defined the image of Patagonia.
- 11Ruta 40
Five thousand kilometres along the Andes. The Patagonian stretch means bare steppe, crosswind and a horizon that never comes closer.
- 12The Strait of Magellan
The ferry crossing to Tierra del Fuego, on the water where Magellan found the way to the Pacific in 1520. Black-and-white dolphins alongside.
- 13Paso Garibaldi
The last pass before Ushuaia, looking over lakes Escondido and Fagnano. From here there is only one road south.
- 14Ushuaia · Fin del Mundo
The southernmost city in the world, between the Beagle Channel and snow-capped mountains. Tierra del Fuego National Park and the marker where Ruta 3 ends.
The return north

Hands painted on rock nine thousand years ago, in a hidden canyon beside Ruta 40. The oldest art gallery on the continent.

Seventy kilometres of perfect asphalt between Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes, among Andean lakes and forests — the reward before the return to Santiago.
Patagonia sets its own pace. The wind, the ferries and the border formalities between Chile and Argentina can rearrange a whole day — the route is built with margin for exactly that.
